ONE! We made it! I always view the first birthday as a celebration for the parents as well. We all survived the first year! We decided not to do a party and we couldn't really celebrate on his birthday because Chris has a 6 hour mountain bike race. I of course felt guilty, but he won't remember and next weekend the Holcomb's are coming over for dinner and cake. Of course he woke up to his balloons from the balloon fairy. I found him in his crib that morning playing with them and looked pretty excited about them. The boys were equally excited that it was his birthday and they pretty much told everyone they came across that it was his birthday.
Next was his birthday pancakes. It was the only time we would all be together that day so we sang to him which at first he didn't know what was going on, but eventually started to enjoy all the attention.

That afternoon we headed to Chris' race and spent the rest of the afternoon cheering him on in the very hot weather. We left for a little while to get some dinner. We met our friends the Honeycutt's at Chicken Cow. Karen's husband was also doing the race with Chris. When we got there she had a balloon and cupcakes for the boys. After we ate we gave him a little one to see what would happen.
