Labor Day Weekend

Last weekend we had beautiful weather! It was so nice to be outside and have the windows open after such a hot and long summer. On Saturday my cousin, Jen, took my three older kids to her house for the whole day and it was so nice to have a day of just doing nothing and enjoying the quiet with Chris. The next day we headed to the Georgia Mountains to do a little hiking. We first went to Amicalola Falls. The boys loved the hiking and the falls. It was a great little hike with a beautiful view. We then headed to Burts Farm for a picnic and get excited for fall by checking out the huge pumpkins. After that we headed to Brasstown Bald Mountain, the highest peak in Georgia. Noah has been studying about Brasstown Bald in school and really wanted to visit the mountain. We didn't expect it to be as long of a trip to the mountain, but we made it and hiked the last little part of the mountain and enjoyed the beautiful view. Noah was thrilled to be there. Well, by the time we hiked down and got in the car we were all a little spent from the long day. The trip home was longer then we expected also and we were all a little grumpy on the ride home. Despite the last part of the day it was a great family day! It was great to get away from our house and enjoy being outside.
I have learned to enjoy our family days even if everything isn't perfect. The pictures make us all seem like one big happy family, but through out the day we weren't all happy! Connor got in trouble, the older boys fought, everyone got a little grumpy at one time or another, and it was a lot of work to have Kyle there also. With that being said, that doesn't stop us from doing these kind of activities because our kids will remember that we made an effort to be together as a family and that we had fun. They won't remember the other stuff so it is totally worth all the effort and the fact that I fell asleep on the couch at 8pm that night!
