My boys got their own Bibles for Easter. They are not a little kid bible with pictures in it and they are so proud of them. On Easter they proudly took them to church and followed along with the scripture reading during the service and they spent a lot of time looking through them. We also got them a new devotion book and every night they are excited to read it and get there bibles out to find the scripture. It makes me so happy to see how excited they are about their first bible. We even got their names engraved on them. I have really enjoyed my time with them at night doing their devotion and talking to them about God. I can see them learning and understanding more and more. The other thing I have seen is how they are praying. Let me give you an example of the exact prayers they said the other night.
Noah:
Dear Heavenly Father, Thank you for this beautiful day. Thank you for our house. Thank you for sending Jesus to die on the cross for our sins. Thank you for providing us with a church so we can worship you. In Jesus Name Amen!
Owen:
Dear Heavenly Father, Than you for this day. Thank you for letting us have such a fun day. Thank you for giving us the Bible so we can learn more and more about you. In Jesus Name, Amen!
It makes me smile! My hope and prayer as a parent is that I get them excited about learning about God now, instill some important biblical truth now and as they get older it will stick and I won't be introducing it then. It will just be a natural part of their life. Lastly we were sitting in car pool the other day and Owen looked at me and said "Mommy, you know, God isn't done with us yet." It made me laugh!
