Fall Weekend Away

Last weekend we headed to Boone, NC to enjoy a perfect fall getaway with some great friends. The Troast friends are friends of ours from NJ. We first met each other during our first year of marriage and have many great memories of spending time together. They moved to NC a couple of years ago and between kids, jobs, and just the craziness of life we don't get to see each other much. We knew a weekend away was the answer. We had perfect weather and the kids had a blast. The only negative was that it was too short of a trip and it was kind of far, but so worth the drive. On Saturday morning we took a hike in the Blue Ridge Mountains. It was about two hour hike and the kids did awesome. The only one that needed to be carried was Kyle.
We encountered so obstacles along the way. Several little creeks and Connor was on the only one that fell into the water and mud, but he was a great sport about the whole thing. Below is a the kids getting ready to cross the first obstacle. This is how we got most of the kids over the first couple of creeks, but soon they became pretty adventurous and would jump rocks on their own to cross.
Not a bad view! After hiking it was time for the boys to go fishing the girls hung back and relaxed. The cabin we stayed in was beautiful and fit all 10 of us no problem. Group shot of the kiddos and they all got along so well. Connor was apparently very excited about his roasted marsh mellow! A very intense game of Uno. Awesome wrap around deck that the kids made into a race track. Loved the whole weekend! We have decided to make it a yearly thing!
